Mission

We recognize that everyone has innate potential for growth and transformation but many lack opportunities. As a social enterprise, Sakhi is committed to empowering native women in the villages of Auroville through skill development, education, employment, creative expression, and integral well-being to enable self-motivated, sustainable socio-economic transformation while honoring their cultural identity and wisdom.

Vision

Sakhi envisions a world where everyone thinks and acts from their deepest awareness. We cultivate creativity as a means to self-discovery.

Life at Sakhi blends work and personal growth pursuits

Guiding principles

  • Everyone has innate potential to grow and blossom but many lack opportunities.
  • Provide equal opportunities for those from under-privileged communities, especially women, to help them realize their full potential and live meaningful lives.
  • Nurture inner capacities and creative potential to enable lasting individual and collective transformation.
  • Work should not be a drudgery, rather it should be meaningful that cultivates joy, feeling of beauty and fulfillment.

Our products reflect who we are, our wholesome processes, and our sustainable choices for people and the planet.

  • Hand-made with joy

Our products are hand-embroidered and hand-crocheted and carry a joyful elegance. We like the mindfulness and peace that develops with hand-work.

  • Eco-printed

Our eco-printed products are uniquely designed depending on the outcome of the natural prints which are always a mystery!

  • Made in small batches

Sakhi products are not mass produced. They are made in small batches with the attention required to bring out the beauty and detail of each product.

  • Upcycled collection

We find treasures in used saris, small fabric scraps, dead stock, off-cuts and inner tubes of used tyres and turn them into functional products
